This scene always made me so sad because it's how i felt when my mum died, being the eldest, having to be strong for my brothers and sisters even though my heart had been broken.

This scenes resonates with me so much. The feeling of whether you are grieving the 'correct' way and how loss can impact you beyond the moment they go. Losing my Grandad last year the last line really gets me
"I'm Del Boy, ain't I? Good ol' Del Boy, he's got more bounce than Zebadee." 😁
My terminally ill father died in my arms at 2am today (25-12-24), he got me into OFAH and we were 2 of the biggest OFAH fans, I'm heartbroken and this scene just hits...
This scene just brings a tear to my eye i wish i had met Lennard Pierce Buster Merryfield how David and Nicholas could look at each other without crying i will never know
Leonard Rossiter was a fine actor.
Del was born and raised in post-war poverty, lost his Mum at 16 and his Dad walked out on him at the same age, leaving him to be the bread winner for the family. He may have been dealt a bad hand but boy is the character of Del Boy inspiring when you really think about his perseverance.
I identify with both Del and Rodney in this scene.
This acting puts Hollywood to shame
A fantastically emotional scene. Always brings a tear to my eye. What a writer John Sullivan was. One minute you could belly laugh, the next be left sobbing. RIP John 😢
My favourite all time sitcom. 2 mins 40 for 15 secs no words just pure comedic acting. Leonard Rossiter was and will always be an alltime great. RIP 🙏 X
I wonder if it’s pure acting or the sorry from Rodney is when you get that choked up sore throat from holding i tears …
Absolutely incredible acting and poignance Hits like a massive attack
Sadly Del Boy had to always play the tough guy As their old man walked out on them when Del was 16 after his mum passed away So Del had to take over raising and loving to Rodney Del also thinks of their mother when he said they break your bloody heart including their old man Grandad supported them a little bit But Del had to make money to put food on the table Paying the gas, electricity and water for the flat By being an illegal trader selling hooky goods
Oh how I miss Rising Damp and filmed in the Yorkshire TV Studios where I live in Leeds.
"it was Grandad" 😫
Those first few seconds of acting by Frances De La Tour as the burning stick comes through her door are to my mind the very epitome of comedy timing. Pure genius!
Brilliant scene, and fantastic acting from David Jason. When Del says "I don't even know how to...", I think he wanted to say "cry".

Coming Sunday 25 august
Nice bittersweet episode dedicated to Grandad
Those were the days, when you could take the micky out of everything and everyone, all great sitcoms were built round it, that is why they are about as funny as a boil on the arse today.
It takes strength to be vulnerable 😢
Bless him R.I.P. Lennard 😢
Beckinsale died aged 31 and Rossiter aged 57. Yootha Joyce from George & Mildred was 54. All 3 would have gone on to entertain people for many more years. It's scary how young some of these comedy actors died.
Old school heart and humanity. Hard to find nowadays. God bless them 🤝🏼❤
They both loved and adored Lennard, you can see it clearly here
An acting masterclass from them both. Real emotion aswell at the genuine loss of Lennard Pearce, I think.
These Australian DVDs from the copyright holders ITV Studios and distributed by Roadshow Entertainment contain the outro and intro and the ad break. For example, do you see it saying "End Of Part One" & "Part Two" at the breaks or do they pathetically try to edit them out?
What a Los so funny man
🫶🏼
You broke my bloody heart del every time you touch that chair then explained why
For me, Jason’s outright greatest moment in the show, with stiff competition
The website brought me here
This hit me 😢😢😢
My father was the same. He took care of his mother and siblings after the war. Later solved their problems, worked all his life to raise his own family. When we were all grown and left home i told him’now you and mum should go and enjoy yourselves. He said’i dont know how’ he sacrificed yeats of his life fr us all. I feel so sad.
❤everytime 😢
Didn't even act here David Jason you could see here was genuinely sad
Probably the inappropriate laughter scenes.
Fun episodes
Never a truer speech said. Takes one to know one!
Brillianty written and acted!. Nuff said.
It's one of the most powerful scenes ever put on TV. When a close relative dies, you're in shock and it can last a few days, a few weeks or even a few months. Only then, after that time, it hits you. Everything Del says or should I say David Jason the actor playing Del, is spot on. Rodney is too young to get it but if he was twice the age, he would.
Obviously the comedy was second to none. But scenes like this are why only fools will never be beaten.
Classic Gem, Brilliant...✌️
Great scene as the great Lennard Pearce ( grandad ) had only recently passed away and the funeral scene was only a week after lennards actual funeral , it also showed a deep insight of Del Boy of how he had nt come to terms with grandads passing . David Jason thought the show would finish but thankfully Buster Merryfield played uncle Albert brilliantly and we enjoyed many more years of great comedy .
I don't know any other comedy that had me crying with laughter one minute then had me nursing a lump in my throat the next. Only fools and horses is the greatest comedy series ever. And, there's been some barn storming classics but this is the creme de la creme!
Fantastic acting and writing. John Sullivan was a master writer, up there with the likes of Ronnie Barker. This is writing calibar we will never see again. I lost my dad 14 years ago when i was 16 to cancer, lost my nan to cancer who died on christmas eve. The best thing about only fools was it taught you to love and cherish your family and remember all the good times you had
I broke down when i watched this clip, thinking obout my Dad, it gets to me every time
Which episode is this?
I think the first lots of series was that much better with scenes like this..
